WonHundred Word Wednesday

It's been a while since I posted. And instead of giving up, I'm catching up. So I'll be adding a prompt from the past to each coming prompt.

This week's prompt was There was nothing left of the money except:

There was nothing left of the money except enough to buy a ticket home. He would cherish this trip for the rest of his life.
As he approached the desk to buy his ticket, he heard a woman sobbing as she stepped away. She took her daughter’s hand and looked at the small wad of cash in her hand. “We don’t have enough to get there,” she whispered to the child.
“Excuse me,” he said. “How much are you short?”
She answered and he knew exactly what to do with the last of his money.

Besides, he liked this place.

And this prompt was for the date: August 20th: He had waited twenty years to return it

It lay on his night stand, mocking him. Twenty years had gone in a flash, yet he looked at the source of his constant shame and closed his eyes. A slow, steady breath later, and he was determined to act.
He slipped it into a dark bag.
No one had to know. He could sneak in. He could do this.
He nodded at the woman inside the building, sitting at the counter. He worked his way to the back shelves and pulled the book from the bag.
As it slid home between two other authors, he finally felt at peace.

I know there are a handful like me who have run out of minutes in the day to work on these prompts, but check out the links below and see who you can find.

In my Local Paper!

I was in my local paper! It's kinda exciting and I'm still all giddy inside.

Both Eye on Orion, and Guardians of the Gates are mentioned. Click on the names to find the Amazon links.

HERE IT IS!
I feel so blessed.

I won't tell you how I looked and was dressed 10 minutes before this picture was taken. Let's just say I needed some hair, makeup, and wardrobe adjustments.

Tell me, how fast can you get picture ready? ;)

WonHundred Word Wednesday

Today's prompt is something I experienced once.

Spare some change please? The old woman on the street corner asked, her cardboard sign stained with grease and other unidentifiable substances.
I opened my purse and dug through the pocket I held my coins in. A small pebble my daughter gave me, a few smashed penny souvenirs, and an army can opener were found among the few dimes, nickels and pennies. I didn’t even have a quarter. Everything was plastic.
“Sorry, it’s all I have on me.”
“Wow lady. You don’t got much.”
Her words saddened me. I had so much, yet couldn’t give to one in need today.

Wonhundred Word Wednesday

This week's prompt:

There was a strange wailing sound coming from the next room.

A strange wailing sound caught my ears. I put my tools down and listened closely, trying to figure out what it could be. My apprentice had gone home hours ago, and no one in their right mind would be visiting someone like me this late at night. I doubted it was a cat. They had learned to stay away as well.
I blew out the candle and gripped the long handled needel used to punch holes in the leather I’d been working on.
Easing myself up quietly, I moved to the door. A familiar scent reached me.

I’d been found.

Time to check out the other blogs and see what they came up with.

Won Hundred Word Wednesday Double Feature

Once again I was out of town last week and didn't think far enough ahead to do my writing prompt.

So I'm doing two again this week.

Here's last weeks prompt:  THE PINK GLOVE LAY ON THE GROUND, ALMOST COVERED.

The pink glove lay on the ground, almost covered. The snow hadn’t stopped falling since late last night. He picked it up wondering who it belonged to. Probably some kid who hadn’t noticed it was missing.
He shook off the snow and placed it gently on the fence post, hoping to make it visible if someone came looking.
As he turned to continue on his errand, he ran into her.
“Jillian?”
“Spencer? Is that you? I haven’t seen you in ten years.”
The desire to caress her face like he used to washed over him.
Was she single?

No ring.

Now for this weeks prompt:  THE URGE TO INTERRUPT HIM BEFORE HE HAD FINISHED WAS OVERWHELMING.

Stopping another dragon mid-hunt was stupid even for a maverick like himself.
Yet if he didn’t stop Kors from devouring that human, Drog would regret it. Something about the human sparked a memory from years ago.
Drog took in a slow breath. Goat’s milk. The same thing he’d been fed as a hatchling when his mother had been killed by knights.
Drog inched closer to the peasant and looked into the terrified eyes.
Recognition sparked in both of them. Drog swung his tail into Kors.
I claim this one as my slave. It was the only way to save him.

Now go see what the other's did with the prompt

WonHundred Word Wednesday

These sure give me a lot to think about. It's fun to see where my mind leads me with the different prompts. This was inspired by the account I was told of my Grandparents.

It was time, she’d fought against it for so long

It was time, she’d fought against it for so long, but now she found herself staring death in the eye. Leland had put up a valiant fight against cancer, but he was finished.
She held his hand and rested her head against his.
“I can see children at the end of the bed,” he said.
“Do you know them,” she asked.
He nodded weakly, then frowned. “They’re leaving.”
“Do you want to go with them?” she asked gently.
“Yes,” he sighed.

“Then go have fun. I’ll see you again soon.” She kissed her husband of fifty-six years one last time.

Now go see what the others did.
