WonHundred Word Wednesdays

Here's another prompt:

No matter what you hear, no matter how badly you want to, do NOT open your eyes.

It’s not like anyone knows what ghosts do.

No, all the crazies in the world think we’re there to scare people on demand. They even take each other to old houses and say stupid things like: “No matter what you hear, no matter how badly you want to, do NOT open your eyes.

It’s not like I’m going to stand in front of you and wait for the right moment to scare you. No, that’s just dumb.

What we really do is follow you home so we’ll know the best place to get you back. That’s when it gets fun.

Now go see what the other's have done.

WonHundred Word Wednesdays

I felt a little different in the approach to today's prompt.

THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE IS:

It’s hard work. And it isn’t about you. On occasion, it isn’t even fun.  It’s staying up all night with a sick child, cleaning up vomit for the eighth time.
It’s giving up your wants for someone else’s needs.
It’s 100 percent on both sides.
It’s trusting someone enough to let them see your faults, and not pointing out his.
It’s being willing to apologize when you were in the right, and to forgive when you were wronged.

It’s more than a physical attraction. It’s when two partial souls find each other and make the effort to become one soul.

WonHundred Word Wednesdays

A little history to this one. I forgot about it till 10:30 the night before it was due to be posted. As I sat there and contemplated the prompt, my husband comes and sits next to me on the couch. I mention my task and he says, "there are bones in it." Then BAM! it comes out. Not my normal style of writing, but I really really want to meet this kid. I will have to consider writing more to this story.

Hope you enjoy.

You find a box in the attic that isn’t yours.

There are bones in it.
They aren’t mine. They aren’t even human.
Not animal either. It’s a strange cross of reptile and human.
Think alien
Am I surprised? Not really.
I only see my mom during the full eclipse of the moon. That’s the only time the portal’s open.
I suppose it would be safe to assume they were hers. Not from her body. But in the fact they belong to her.
Yeah, she’s odd like that.
Now how do I explain to Dad that I took those bones, put them back together.

Having a new pet will be fun.

Now go see what the others have written.

Book Tour Warrior Everlasting

Warrior Everlasting by Wendy Knight

Wendy is such a great author. She's got some fun things to read and here's one of her newest.

Fighting alongside the boy you shouldn't love is hard enough. Doing it while riding a unicorn who would gleefully fly to her death with you on her back is worse. What makes it insane?
 Doing it in hell.
Scout and her unicorn, Ashra, risked everything just to make it into Aptavaras. Their plan is to free Scout’s family and the stolen souls, and seek vengeance on the man who took everything Ashra had once lived for. What they hadn’t counted on was Trey and his unicorn, Torz, following them.
It might be the only thing that will save them.
Because in Aptavaras, the soul stealers are many and the chances of survival are slim. Even if they can get past the demons, trick the demon master, rescue the souls and escape with their lives, there’s only one person who can open the gate, and he’s on the outside defending the world. But Scout, Trey, Ashra and Torz have one thing the soul stealers don’t—
 A reason to live.

And for a taste of her writing, check out this snippet.

"You’re mad.”
She sighed. “I’m too tired for this right now, Trey. If you want Kylin, then—”
He glared at her. “You lose faith in me that quickly, Scout? I’ve been in love with you since I was eight years old. See these?” He held up his arm with the leather bands tied around his wrist. “Nine of them. One for each year I’ve loved you. I loved you when you hated me. I loved you when you were dancing for some other guy. I loved you when I watched you throw yourself off your unicorn eight billion feet above the ground.” Scout opened her mouth, but no sound came out. Instead, tears trickled down her cheek. Finally, she knew what those leather bands meant. And her heart swelled.
“Just because I talk to Kylin doesn’t mean I’m going back to her. What have I ever done to make you doubt me, Scout? And if you say the hospital—” His glare was more fierce than she’d ever seen it. Clearly, he’d heard enough about the hospital.
Scout smiled, scrubbing at her tears. “Nothing, Trey. You’ve done nothing to make me doubt you. I’m sorry. I’m just tired and insecure.”
His hand shot out, circling her waist, and he pulled her into him, so close she could feel his heart pounding inside his chest, and he kissed her like he would literally die if he didn’t. There was pain and fury and hope and love in that kiss. Scout rose on her toes and slid her arms around his neck, kissing him back, hoping he could feel that she felt the same way.

A little history on writing my novel Eye On Orion

I've always loved the stars and night sky. When I first started writing this book and worked on Holly's personality, I used parts of my history. My grandpa used to show me the stars at night. I remember him having a blow up ball with the constellations on them he'd point out to me.
I also remember being woke up one night in the middle of the night and my dad carrying me out to the front porch to look at the moon. It was a dog moon and the circle surrounding the full moon was so beautiful it has stayed with me since then.
Growing up in such a small town as I did, my night sky was so clear and beautiful, I never had to head up to the mountains to see meteor showers. I always search the stars when I go home to visit my parents.
I also love looking at the NASA website and searching other places for information about celestial events. So I thought I'd put some of the links I use now, and some I used when writing this book.

after writing this post, my dad sent me this link. It's stunning. And a very important scene happens on the Salt Flats in my book. Check out this awesome panorama of the Bonneville Salt Flats

The Nasa website has some awesome stuff.  http://www.nasa.gov/

Also, an Astronomy calendar of Celestial Events for 2014 is one of my new favorite places to look.

I also used this book as a reference when writing the story. loved this.

WonHundred Word Wednesday.

It's time once again for a fast little prompt:

You know what they say… Never run with scissors, bite the hand that feeds you, put all your eggs in one basket, count your chickens before they hatch, look a gift horse in the mouth, (what does that mean anyway?).

But why don’t they give you good advice? Why not something like "if you go walking through the woods and stumble across a mansion made of diamonds, don’t knock."  Now I’m stuck in this prison, unable to escape and about to marry a dragon that turns into a man only at night. Who said Diamonds are a girl’s best friend?

Now, go see what the others did.
